Why have we developed this idea?

We believe it is important to give as many people as possible access to well designed website creation tools. To do this we realized that we needed to create a fair price for everyone around the globe. Each country has a different cost of living, so to create a fair price for everybody, in practice means creating a different price for each country. A good introduction to the history of these ideas is The Big Mac index, which was conceived by The Economist magazine in 1986.

How was the FairDif index built?

Starting with reputable price indexes, including from Numbeo, the World Bank and the OECD, FairDif estimates a price that has the same value for people in different countries. For example, one year of the Pro version is $109 in the US, approximately $126 in Singapore, $34 in India and $88 in Italy. This does not mean that people in India are paying less than people in Italy or the US. It may be a different number, but the relative value is the same. See Wikipedia's List of countries by GDP (PPP) per capita for a quick visual look at how greatly purchasing power varies across the globe.
